Jacob decided to have a Toy Story birthday this year. I had my brother in law make the bed frame for me. This was one of the easiest cakes I made, but I think one of the cutest. The cake was vanilla pound cake with yellow buttercream frosting for filling.

My brother Mikey is on a full time mission for the LDS church. He has been out for a year. So for the 1 year mark or "hump day" I made him a missionary shirt. The badge is a picture of his actual badge printed on edible paper. He plans on playing football at Brigham Young University when he gets back, so that is why the tie is a BYU tie. We froze the cake and packaged it up to be sent overnight to Arizona. We are crossing our fingers it gets there in one piece. We also sent a picture of it just in case it doesn't make it. He left before I really got into making cakes so I am so excited for him to see it.
This year for Cam's birthday we had a combined 4th of July party too. It was a lot of fun. I figured that this will be the last year he doesn't have a preference on his theme, and I wanted to do a 4th of July cake. He loved the cupcakes. I used food coloring on all the cupcakes and to make my stripes in the big cake. This cake was a lot of fun for everyone to eat.
This summer Provo Craft approached me about doing some cakes for them to demo their new Cricut Cake machine. This was a fun project for me. I did 5 cakes for them. They wanted a girl cake, a boy cake, a cake with flowers, a holiday cake and a wedding cake. I was able to use my imagination on the design. I really enjoyed figuring the machine out and it has been very useful in my cake decorating.

This cake is for my nephew Chase. When I took his mom's cake to her (Chanel Handbag) I asked him what he was going to do for his birthday. He responded, "umm, I want a basketball cake." So how could I not deliver:) He is turning 4 and he and his Dad are huge Jazz fans. I made this cake with 2 9" round cakes carved to allow the ball to sit inside. I used a ball cake pan for the basketball. The backboard was made from 1/4" plywood. I covered it in fondant. I used my Cricut Cake machine to cut out the Jazz logo. This cake was surprisingly easy and so fun to make. I can't wait for the little guy to see it!

I made this cake for my aunt Kathy's birthday. She always has a black coach handbag and her People magazine with her. I used my new cricut cake to cut out the C's, the flowers, and the word People. I love it. The cake is vanilla pound cake with butter cream filling. I used Marshmallow Fondant to cover it. The details are gum paste.
